A beauty product that has been around for decades. That promises something, right? I’ve always wanted to own the ever so famous Guerlain Meteorites and right now, I do!
If you’ve never seen the Guerlain Meteorites before, then please take a moment to stare at the absolutely gorgeous packaging and product itself. Wow, what an eyecatcher! I truly feel like we’re going back in time, to when makeup just launched and when packaging was made sublime and looked so luxurious. I love that! And then the -almost unicorn like colored – pearls. Pretty is an understatement here. The Meteorites also have a lavender kind of smell. The perfume is quite noticeable and it reminds me of when I was younger and my neighbours always had lavender in their front yard. The scent could be a little too much though, if your skin is sensitive and you don’t like a perfumed product. By the way, I purchased the lightest color of the three that are available in Europe, called 2 Clair/light.
But what does it do? According to Guerlain, the handcrafted pearls “diffracts light upon contact to envelop the skin in a halo of light. Each lightweight shade has a specific correcting action to offer women the ultimate in luminous skin.”
All the colors blend together into a transparent, glowy powder and it gives your skin a natural and slightly luminous effect. By natural I mean that you can’t really detect a layer of powder on the face. It melts with the skin, which I love. Taking a photo that showed the luminosity was impossible, but when you apply it yourself you can tell the subtle difference it makes. It just gives your skin a bit of an old Hollywood upgrade, if you know what I mean.
Does it work? Yes, but Guerlain’s saying that you get the ultimate luminous skin is a bit of an overstatement. Your skin will look luminous, but not super duper ‘I am a highlighter’ luminous (lol). You can’t compare this product to the popular Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders. The Meteorites are different, less noticeable.
I do love applying the Meteorites (it feels so luxurious!) and the subtle luminous touch that it gives my skin. I would definitely repurchase the product. The Guerlain Meteorites, with a pricepoint around 57 euro, is on the high end of the makeup spectrum. However, you get 25 gram of product and that is a lot. For example, the Chanel Les Beiges powders cost 50 euro for only 12 gram of product. Definitely try it out yourself in store!
